Culpeper Pickleball Club Code of Conduct

  1. Remember: Pickleball is only a game. A social game.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the posted rules at the venue you are playing at.
  3. Wait until play/the point has stopped before crossing another court.
  4. Learn the current rules. They may be found at the USA Pickleball website.
  5. If the ball is out on your side, call it out. If there is no gap between the line and the ball, give the benefit to your opponent. These are the rules of pickleball, and all are expected to follow them. Never make calls for your opponent’s side of the court.
  6. Never ask for (nor accept) line calls from spectators.
  7. Good sportsmanship is expected of all CPC affiliates.
  8. If you want a stronger/more competitive game, stack your paddles together as a group and wait your turn. Stacked paddles may not be rearranged without paddle owners permission. You may NOT jump the queue if next in line needs more players for a foursome. Please facilitate matchups to speed things along.
  9. When the players on the opposing team are unequal in skill, avoid targeting the weaker player. Play the stronger player equally or understand they may not want to play with you in the future. Your game will improve by challenging the better player.
  10. Stronger players, play the weaker players in a way that helps them to develop.
  11. Weaker players please appreciate time spent by stronger players. Understand that most are willing to educate for a game or two, but they are there to improve also.
  12. Communicate with your partner and opponents to manage expectations, avoid confusion, and create a safe environment.
  13. Every game should end at the net with a paddle tap and a “good game.” NEVER leave a game withoutacknowledging the other team.
  14. Before offering advice, ask fellow players if they would like to receive it first.
  15. New players grow the sport, please remember if you bring a guest to open play, that you are their teacher and stay with them until they are comfortable.
  16. Teaching takes time. When space is limited spend no more than 20 mins on the court if players are waiting and rotate back in when it’s your turn.
  17. CPC Affiliates are expected to follow the posted rules at the venues where CPC events are held.
  18. Please contact any of our CPC Board Members with any issues or concerns you may have DIRECTLY via emailat play@culpeperpickleballclub.org

As Culpeper Pickleball Club Affiliates you are requested to adhere to the spirit of these rules when situations arise that are not covered here. Our overriding concern is for the safety and enjoyment of all of our affiliates.

Above all: BE KIND. HAVE FUN. PLAY MORE PICKLEBALL

I have read and accept the CPC Code of Conduct and will adhere to them as an affiliate member.
